Our Story
The California Rural Health Student Advocates (CRHSA) is an organization of emerging and training health professionals committed to advancing healthcare equity for rural and underserved communities across California. Our leadership is united by a shared mission: to amplify the voices of populations that are too often overlooked in healthcare policy and decision-making.Our work is rooted in direct engagement with the legislative and governmental process. We provide testimony at the State Capitol on key healthcare issues, draft and submit formal letters in support of or opposition to proposed legislation, and meet directly with Assemblymembers, State Senators, and their staff to advocate for targeted, high-impact policy reform. At the local level, we engage with county and regional stakeholders—including public health departments, community leaders, and government officials—to better understand the unique challenges facing rural communities and to ensure their perspectives are represented in broader policy discussions. Through these efforts, CRHSA serves as a bridge between underserved communities and the institutions that shape healthcare access, delivery, and equity across the state.
